As part of their Centenary Celebrations, The Melton Musical Theatre Company (formerly Melton Amateur Operatic Society) go “back to their roots” and present one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s most popular comic operas, packed full of sentimental pirates, blundering policeman, absurd adventures and improbable paradoxes.

Frederic, a pirate’s apprentice, falls head-over-heels in love with Mabel, the daughter of Major-General Stanley. Frederic is due to be released from his apprenticeship on his 21st birthday, but there’s a snag. He discovers that he was born on 29 February and thus is technically still only five and a quarter! Although very much in love, his dedication to duty is unshakeable. Can he find a way to live happily-ever-after with Mabel?

This fun-packed show is suitable for all the family and includes many familiar songs including Poor Wandering One, I Am The Very Model Of A Modern Major General and A Policeman’s Lot.

The event is finished.
